“While she stepped out, I considered my future like a fly trapped between window pane and screen.” Love this line. And also the one about not having heard such good advice since you’re mother told you to learn to type.
Great piece and great advice. I’m saying farewell to ambivalence myself these days! :)
"She recalled the weeks she searched for switch plate covers to match her kitchen tile. In comparison, I used the forty-nine-cent plastic ones from Home Depot in my farmhouse kitchen. I felt superior about that, somehow." LOVE this! People are often so beleaguered by their own wealth and intellect when they are renovating.
I wouldn’t say I feel ambivalent about what I want career wise. I just haven’t found something that’s a YES, THIS. I’m always on the lookout for it! I’ve felt pieces of it!
Love this! Ambivalence can be hard to recognize and can weigh you down...thanks for sharing this story. I can relate!
this was EXCELLENT. I love how you ended it :)

Great to meet you at the Deep Dive.
Oh, thank you for reading. It was lovely to meet you too. I woke up energized this morning.

That's what my post-work search was all about... getting from "maybe" to "YES, THIS"
