As a fellow big city transplant, I love your story. Welcome to Vermont! Can't wait to continue following your journey

Thanks! We've been here for several years now. Every time I think I'm tired of the rural life, it only takes one trip to the city to remind me how much I love it here.

So many things in this piece hit home for me, like my mother also telling me to "learn to type so you always have something to fall back on". I've also purchased a "least I could do" house in my son's school district. Looking forward to reading more of your adventures!

Love your story telling Cathy! And I know who Felix is! Lol.

He said I could write anything I wanted about him, as long as I called him Felix. 😜

Vermont farmhouses are my dream! We don't see tht style much here in Australia. We have our own versions of country homes which are also beautiful - Queenslanders, Bluestone cottages and more. But Vermont seems to have an abundance of tall, generous and rambling houses that we only see in movies. 😍 Congratulations on finding your dream house and sticking to your guns of making it your own.

I love my house and where I live, but don't think for a second it's perfect. There's mice and moldering siding, ice in the winter and we have no garage -- always a project to do. But right now, I'm going to sit on the screen porch and watch the sun set over the changing leaves.

Oh yes there's always something. We live in an old cottage and know exactly what you mean. We have lifetimes of projects we want to do. But I couldn't imagine living anywhere else. Except for maybe a Vermont farmhouse. 🙂
