Reinspire your life: five steps to write a new chapter
What I learned from leaving a corporate career for a creative one.
In December of 2018, I walked away from a steady paycheck1 into an uncertain2 future. I approached the first several months of my chosen unemployment with two questions in mind—a) who do I want to be, and b) is it too late?
The answers are:
a) Me
b) No, don’t be silly, you’ve already arrived
But it took me a while to figure that out—heck, I’m still figuring it out.
I found this graphic today that I’d made when I was deep into building my “personal brand.” #reinspiredlife #reinventingwoman 🙄 Despite the cringe factor, I wanted to share it with you because — and this surprised me 5 years after I created it — it holds true.
At least for me. In fact, it is essentially the plot of my memoir in progress.
And because that memoir has been very long in progress (I’ve spent the last three days revising Chapter One for the ninety-ninth time), I’m going to drop this graphic here without further ado.
I’d love to know what you think, how you might apply some of these approaches in your midlife career or personal reinvention, or maybe you think they are b.s.

*I rarely add paywalls, it’s really your support that means the most. 💓
As steady as one menopausal Boomer could be in a rapidly changing tech sector. 😰
The issue of privilege deserves more than a footnote, but I’ll acknowledge my good fortune here anyway. Hard-earned or lucky, I have opportunities that too many do not.
I needed this infographic five years ago...and yet! I'm glad I'm seeing it today.
